Introduction

• Introduction

The Department of Information and Communications, established in 2003, offers an in-depth study into various aspects of an increasingly growing technology-mediated-communication world. Its mission is to achieve academic excellence and gain national as well as international recognition in new information and communication technologies.

 

 

The course is designed for familiarizing the students with the concepts and trends of information, communication, and media convergence. Throughout the course, emphasis is put on media environment, effective information research and communication skills, and current examples and issues related to the impact of information and media production. Students will aim to obtain a basic theoretical background, such as new media studies, photography, graphic design, digital film production, and media industry, to analyze the entire distribution, production, and use process of future digital media services through various channels in the media ecology.

The integrated development of information technology and digital content has become one of the latest trends in the Internet age. The department is committed to providing an environment where information technology, communication media, and aesthetic design can be fully integrated to form an exclusive informational technology field, cultivating a new generation of information and communication talents. Therefore, the purpose of the establishment of this department is to cultivate talents with "creativity, design and integrational capabilities".

Following this purpose, this major is one of the few in the country that is an integrated educational institution that embodies conceptional creativity, design, media, and marketing. The Department of Information and Communications plays heavy emphasis on personal creativity and hopes to cultivate students with the professional ability of digital media, creativity, and design. In teaching, it emphasizes the use of case analysis and discussion, teamwork in group learning, presentation skills, and performances to enhance expression skills. Homework and exams are combined with national competitions, hoping that students can magnify their competitive platform and cultivate their strengths outside of campus.
